Digital Contest Platform

Digital producer assigned to develop an e-commerce contest platform to bring annual revenue stream in-house.

American Photographic Artists (APA) is a membership-driven national trade organization serving commercial photographers. APA’s largest fundraising event of the year is its annual awards contest. APA handled awards entry submissions with the use of third-party vendors. The APA leadership team concluded the organization needed control over their member’s experience and the data. The solution was to build an e-commerce contest platform into their existing website.

The Role

As Digital Producer I was responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating the project while driving it through the entire lifecycle. This was an internal position with a high level of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point-of-contact for project stakeholders.
  • Write statement of work.
  • Clearly communicate project timelines, including milestones, deadlines, and deliverables to the internal team.
  • Control and monitor project scope and manage change requests.
  • Identify, define and communicate risks to the internal team.
  • Display knowledge of web technologies, web design, and the delivery of solutions with creative and engineering components.
  • Responsible for managing, controlling, and reporting on the budgetary status of project.
  • Conduct post-implementation reviews and document my findings.

My goal for every project I manage—deliver creative excellence.

Project Goals

The digital product had to address these four challenges:

  1. Recognize APA members and offer discounted pricing
  2. Incentivize non-members to join APA
  3. Track contest revenue in Stripe using metadata
  4. Make launching a contest as simple as creating a blog post
